The most impractical room in my house

She is my room. She is a 12 ft by 12 ft colorful dream that begs you come sit and be still. She is not for playing as there is no spare space. She is not for sleeping as there is no place to rest your head... she is just for "being". And sometimes I need to just be. She is filled with things I love like furniture I painted, hot pink french chairs that my cute carpenter despises, my kids artwork, my sister's photography, and accessories that serve no purpose other than to look pretty. She stands alone in my house, as there is nothing else here as bright as her walls. She is herself, for better or for worse, and I like that about her.

Since I am adding this room to my house tour, take a look at what she used to look like:

And take a look at my french chairs before they received the love they so deserve. You can read their story here.

Don't you want to sit here...
I hung a colorful plaque on my painted armoire because she is too big to not be multi-purposed...
My desk that really only functions as a place to display things I love...
Ella's artwork and my painted, and oh so sadly slip covered chair, that took me 15 minutes to make...
Some wisdom...
Here I am in Paris where my love of hot pink was born...
And here is my copycat version that I painted and hung over the windows...
I made these linen panels. No lining, no fuss, just simplicity, and they are perfect in this sun room.
More stuff to love...
My husband wants to know "if we take the cage off the puff ball, will it get away?". He just doesn't get this room of mine...
Do you?

Amy

I am in love with the hot pink and blue walls. In my first house I had a room like this--pretty to look at and just sit. I hope that as the kids get older I will once again have this space...

I do get it!! I toy with making my own but so far practicality has won over. I need to work on that.

My favorite line....
"if we take the cage off the puff ball, will it get away?"

Too funny-

I love your room. And it's OK if the cute carpenter doesn't get it, he's cute and a carpenter. Those two qualities alone are pretty good. :)

It really is a beautiful, feminine room. Great job!

Amazing room of vibrant color, feminine aesthetics....beauty for the sake of beauty to soothe and inspire and be an incredible entity unto itself.

It simply IS DIVINE.

Oh dear...the name of the paint color. I think it is Halycon Green, Sherwin Williams. It is The Nester's blue...whatever that color is called :).
