A family room before and after

The family room before we knocked down the walls, scraped the popcorn ceilings, tore out the carpet and installed hardwood floors, built bookshelves and a mantle surround, removed doors and created the arched opening, reconfigured the duct work under the house, installed recessed lighting, built columns into kitchen, painted the walls (twice), and had another baby...
And after...
More painted black furniture...
This wall came to be after I shopped the house for mirrors, frames, and random mantles that my husband built 2 houses ago and was determined I find a place for. I sat down one evening and moved stuff around until I was satisfied. The cute carpenter says it looks like Sanford and Sons but I like it, and I was able to use a lot of randomness that was cluttering up closets. Now I suppose it is just cluttering up the wall...maybe it is Sanford and Sons.
Come back next week so we can wrap this tour thing up. Here is a sneak peak at the master bath. Who would of thought a chandelier over a tub would be my favorite part of a bathroom remodel?

I love that picture wall. Never listen to carpenters, they don't want you to paint furniture either, goes to show what do they know.

You make it all sound so easy in the first paragraph!!! Ha!! I love the wall. I am doing a similar family wall upstairs, but this collection of random things is intriguing to me. We have a weird wall in our living room where the builder put the thermostat not in the middle of the wall, but close. I have wondered and wondered what to do and now I have a vision! You are awesome!!! Did you decide if you were going to paint or not?

Well, I really like the Sanford and Sons (hehe) wall. It's wonderful! And also, I *really* love that the frames FIT the wall. They aren't too small like I've seen so many times around blogland. The whole room is fab. That pink frame is really cute too.

Nope don't like it at all. Hahaha. I love it. I like your wall but my fovorite thing is the mirror over the fireplace, what pretty lines to balance the box that fireplaces are. I love your use of texture too, it makes the room so inviting.

I love your beautiful home and all of the little bits of love you have added to it. The family room looks like a very happy place to be and relax, and your Sanford and Sons wall looks great. I always enjoy looking at enlarged photos of family members.

And a chandelier above the bathtub? Sounds divine.
