More faux, faux finishing: This time in chocolate!

Isn't this room lovely. I love what the previous owners did with color. Seriously peeps, this is what we were dealing with when we moved in. We had some serious work to do when we signed our names on the dotted line and bought this house. But I am so glad we did, it is my dream home and we knew it had potential!

As you can see in the above picture, the large room is intended to be a living room and the smaller room a dining room. We flopped these two spaces. We decided our family would get much more use out of a large dining room, and I like the idea of small sitting room. It is directly off the kitchen so I can pretend it is a keeping room (like all the fancy folk have).

I have told you before that I am a faux, faux finisher. I play and pretend with wall textures when I can, and I loved these chocolate walls below. Aren't they yummy!

If you can see past the blinding glare of my cheapo camera, I now have a chocolate sitting room. The walls were easy, I troweled on three layers of "espresso" plaster, and voila'!

PS- Incase you didn't know, the oh so fabulous Edie over at Life in Grace has started the 12 Days of Handmade Christmas Tutorials. Today was day 1. I will be guest posting at some point between now and day 12...hope to see you there!

LOVE IT--My sister's in-laws did the same thing. They use their family room as their main gathering room --that is besides the kitchen or around the table.

Thanks for posting to the party and I will click to follow and hope you will do the same and then I will head over to the other party.

Amy,
I have had plum brownish paint swatches in my stash for weeks now, contemplating a bedroom makeover. Your keeping room looks perfect! I can't wait til you debut your lovelies in the 12 Days!

Wow!!!! I love this. Could you give me a little more information. 1. Where do you get tinted plaster? 2. Do I just ask for espresso plaster. 3. How did you go about applying the plaster...use a regular trowel, swirled on or flat application. 4. Any other hiints?

I REALLY love your room alot!!!
Thanks in advance for any information.
