Black french doors and Linen chairs on a Friday

Are you visiting here from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia? If you are, it is an honor to have you here! Come have a seat in one of my newly recovered linen chairs so we can chat...It's my new favorite corner of my house. I call it my coffee corner and it is dreamy to sit in first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee. I knew I would love these chairs in my bedroom as soon as I saw them. And I knew when we painted those french doors white that we had made a mistake as well. They just didn't pop, and I think they are more grown up painted black in a master bedroom. Though I feel a little like a girl playing house most days of my life, this room makes me feel more like a big girl for some reason...and I think it is the black doors.
Remember my green consignment store chairs? They are now white linen. I did love the green, but the fabric was too damaged to attempt to restore, and the green did not match my room.
The white is crisp in my bedroom, and looks nice with the black doors as a backdrop.
So what are your thoughts? Have you ever painted french doors black?

Amy

I love doors painted any color other than white! I have done black french doors for clients. Most of my doors in my personal home are painted a color (slowing redoing them when I do each room- so it's a slow project!) Love your "new" chairs- they are amazing!

I knew when you first showed those chairs that they would be totally transformed! They are just gorgeous! And, I LOVE the french doors painted black. Girl, you are brave! I might think about it but I don't know if I would do it and you definitely made them pop and add depth to the space. I think these are the first pics I have seen of your master bedroom and it looks fabulous. Maybe we could see some more sometime???
Saw your feature on Kristin's blog! :-)

Hey! I am visiting from My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia. You have a lovely blog! I just wanted to say thank you for your little comment about feeling like a girl playing house most days. I always feel that way! It's nice to know I'm not the only one. Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

I love your chairs, and I love your black doors! No, I've never painted doors black, but they do look so sophisticated and grown up.

Funny--every now and then I have to tell myself that I AM the grown-up around here--and I'm 47. Will we always feel like little girls playing house?

I'm with everybody else....if it's not too personal, can we see more of this room???? I can't figure out where I am in the room looking at the picture.....dying to see more! Love the black doors. I painted our front door black on the outside and the inside....you're right...much more contrast makes them pop!

What a wonderful corner to spend time in ~ those chairs are lovely! The black on the french doors is the perfect touch to the room.

I'm catching up with your blog. Your dog in the swing is too funny! We are still in the throws of puppyhood ~ cute but so much work.

Have a great weekend ~

It's official: You are not human. Where's my thesaurus? Must find new words for: fabulous, gorgeous, beautiful, amazing. :-) Love the chairs! I must admit that I'm intrigued by the little hint of what appears to be silk taffeta curtains, in french blue no less. So pretty!
