A chocolate sitting room

I would like to add my 'created' sitting room into this house tour thing I have been doing. I call it a 'created' room because this space used to be the dining room. I wanted a smaller sitting/living room and a larger dining room; because honestly, we do not do much living in a living room. So when we moved into this house, we switched these two rooms. We also did a few other things, like took down those dated railings, moved the chandelier to the front room that was becoming the new dining room, removed the carpet and installed hardwood floors, scraped popcorn ceilings and then I fauxed the walls with chocolate. Well, it wasn't really chocolate, but it did have the consistency and color of a chocolate souffle. Troweling it on the walls looked delicious!

These framed pictures are my most favorite consignment store purchases.

We will keep touring on Friday, see you then! I am linking today with Met Monday.

What a pretty room. I love the way the furniture & accessories pop off of that beautiful color. Chocolate's always been a favorite of mine.

What a cozy comfy room. I think it is so smart that you switched the rooms. A LOT of the homes we looked at had that set up and frankly, I know that I won't really use it so we searched for a house without the "formal" living room. Seeing yours makes me wish I kind of had it though!!! Did you do the silhouettes of the girls??? I love those! Hmmm, I am craving some chocolate right now. I better go! :-)

love the room....you have done such a great job making your home your own!

I am also wanting to know about the silhouettes. I'd love to have some of my kiddos...can you tell me about them?

I am totally enjoying your house tour! I've filed away several tips to use when we remodel. I'm so sorry for the loss of your dog. I know how painful it is. Have a great day!

I forgot to say that I love the blue accents as well. And while I was looking at the photo, (Yes, I enlarged it to check out all the details. hehe) my 16 year old daughter walked by and said "That room is so pretty!".

Gorgeous! I love everything about this room. You guys are just so creative...I look at the "before" and just get overwhelmed! We have the popcorn ceilings and have been talking about scraping them for years. I would LOVE to hear any tips you have for scraping while living in the house because I've heard it's so messy.

Just beautiful! You're immensely talented.

I just wanted to add that I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet dog. Your post caused me to tear up. We have had our Pearl since a few months after we got married. She was our baby for a long time, before the "baby baby" showed up. Sometimes I find myself referring to her as "the dog", which saddens me a great deal. However, it doesn't change the fact that I love her a great deal and she has always been a constant in our lives - always full of love and pure, unadulterated joy. It was obvious to me from your post how much your little dog meant to you, and my heart goes out to you all....

What a beautiful, beautiful room! The chocolate color is glorious. I can imagine that it's warm in winter and cool in summer.

I was so sad to read about your precious little Matty. What a darling friend. My first "baby" was a Basset hound named Freckles. I'll never forget the day I had to have him put to sleep. The grief was very real, just as your grief is very real. "Only a dog"? No, indeed: these doggies are part of the family. I'm so sorry for your loss. Bless you as you adjust to life without your little friend.

And by the way, weren't you a beautiful young wife? Really lovely! You were almost as pretty as you are now.
